What Customers Say About Epson PictureMate Snap 4x6 Photo Printer:

I chose the Snap as a gift for a sister who is challenged by new technology. Cropping and some image enhancement is possible, but with the small screen it's hard to tell if it needs it. Nozzle cleaning did nothing.

She'll never have to use the computer as it accepts most image cards directly. (Lots of plastic). Its ease-of-use should win her over, plus its compact size and portability.

The seller sent a new pak which produced a clear, crisp print with good color saturation and contrast. The ink cartrige installs as easily as a VCR tape, but seems wastefully large. It should be a great printer for her scrap-booking if she learns to use the new digital camera. The printer's introductory print pak was past the expiration date, producing striped prints.

All the inks are together, so you probably throw away good ink when one color runs out.You can't zoom in to inspect the sharpness of the image, so must check that in the camera to choose the ones you want to print. Print layout is limited to pre-established choices - a plus if you want simplicity, a minus if you want something other that what is offered.Recommended for portability (works on batteries too), simplicity and quality snapshots.

WRONG. WOW. The print speed and quality are OUTSTANDING, even better than my old picturemate. I purchased this printer to replace my old Picturemate (the original) that died after 4 years of hard use. I really didn't expect to see a huge difference in quality, a Picturemate is a Picturemate right. I did shop around and after visiting a couple of well known electronic and office supply stores and hearing "Oh.if you had an Epson photo printer, you definitely won't be satisfied with any other brand" a handful of times, I came home and ordered this little jem. If you are in the market for a compact photo printer, this is the one.

I probably wouldn't have thought to buy this printer since I already have a great Epson photo printer, but I got it free as part of a promotion when I bought my latest digital camera. I've tried pictures I've tweaked with photo editing programs and pictures that have come right out of my camera, and they've all been great. If I had known then what I know now, I would pay for this printer. I've printed 30-40 pictures out of this printer so far, and I've been thrilled with every single one. I will say that I've only tried the 4x6 with and without borders and haven't tried any of the other options, but for just 4x6 alone, it's worth the price of the printer. I couldn't be more pleased with the results.

The bad part outweighs any advantages. However, if you let the printer sit unused for more than a few days, the nozzles clog up. This device worked great out of the box, with sharp colors and good detail for a $100 printer. This corrected the situation somewhat, but the prints were still poor. It seems to be a problem with the black ink, since the test pattern always shows choppiness in this color. If the printer worked reliably, I'd keep it. Here's what happened to me.Two days after receiving and testing the printer, I decided to print more photos. This corrected the problem.

and it won't completely correct the problem. It's easy to connect to a PC, and the onboard interface works well (though it's a bit clunky). That's the good part. When mine does this, I can run it through a dozen cleaning cycles (using paper each time). They were filled with horizontal lines, so I ran the device through its onboard cleaning cycle. I contacted Epson, and after a half hour of troubleshooting they sent me a new print cartridge and paper. I get bad color on the first print, then lines appear and won't go away. It doesn't, so I'm making arrangements to return it for a different model.

Fast and fabulous photos - purchased the extra battery and now can take the printer downstairs or anywhere I want. Excellent buy.
